He’s a beautiful bastard, and he seems determined to make my life a living hell. I can’t decide if I’d rather kick him in the dick or screw him, but I know what he wants to do to me. All of the deliciously sinful things that I crave.
We met by chance at a club, and the chemistry between us was undeniable. Then I started working for his mother, and he suddenly found me unworthy. Now he’s doing everything in his power to make me quit or get fired. I’m not the kind of woman to let a man walk all over her, though.
He presses all of my buttons, both intimately and emotionally. I’m torn between the need to resist him and the desire to give into his demands. If I let him have his way, though, I’ll lose everything.

Tristan has lead Layla, Cricket and their followers to Witch Wood where Amelia and Madame Knightly live. Layla wants to get back to Jamie, where they left him as an undead. But she knows he's still there, he spoke her name in her mind. The living have to find a way to survive and carry on. But is this world the one for them?
Kristin returns as our narrator to finish off the series. I'm thrilled she's been a constant with these books. Kristin voices each character with accents and tones we've come to associate with them. She fluidly shifts from one voice and personality to another with all being present in one book. I never get a feel of the audio stopping and starting as I listen. The characters feelings and tones match through out their sections and smoothly transition to new emotions as they arrive with events.
We get POV's of all three of our young ladies who've brought us this far; Layla, Cricket, and Amelia. All three have a different ability that is needed to help survive and bring the living to a point that they can carry on. These ladies have all had their hearts filled or broken through the series. And have become stronger in this devastating world.
This is the conclusion to the harvesting series. I'm working hard to not tell all with this review. We get our action and fights along with nervous moments trying to get what the characters need. Nothing is convenient for the characters.
The writing flow Melanie has created here is magnificent. The missions to get needed supplies do not feel as they are created to give more story, the missions fit the places the characters are. The story feels as it fits in it's world and where the people are without creating situations to get to where the characters are. I love this complete feel for the characters and world.
We get our romantic moments and gazes too. Cricket and Tristan, Amelia and Logan are falling for each other. And maybe a few others of the group are flirting.
Melanie never leaves me wanting in magic, fae, and zombies in this book. We get it all wrapped in one little package. All the special traits the characters have are seen and enjoyed.
I enjoyed the ending. We get all our answers. We also see something new for the characters. And... from a different POV that gives us a great view of everything on how it is after all this. What we see in the end, may or may not be what you were wanting, but it feels right. The hints are all there to draw to this ending. Well done.
I really have no words here... How do I begin???
This book was... Wow, for me.
What made this story for me was that it was real. It wasn't easy. There was nothing remotely easy about Toren and Kenzi's relationship. But it was all kinds of different shades of beautiful, epic, inspiring and heartbreaking.
I felt EVERYTHING from EVERY single character in this book. No joke. I loved every single aspect of this story from beginning to end. I hated when it ended, but loved the waythat it ended. I certainly cannot wait for book two.
Those who are familiar with Ms. Cole's work, I HIGHLY recommend this read. For those of you curious, you can read this as a standalone, but to get the full scope of the people involved and to better acquaint yourselves with Ms Cole and her writing, I would suggest reading her Ashes & Embers series first. But either way, if you start here or there, I think you'll love these stories.
I know I do ;)
Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.
Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.
Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?
But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.
I really loved this book and not just because I’m a JLA fan .
I loved the first book which introduced us to Ivy, Ren and Tink, and their world. Ivy and Ren are members of The Order or Elites both organizations that keep the world free of fae. And Tink being a brownie in hiding in our world.
This book starts shortly where the last book ended and throws us right into the whirlwind of events and emotions happening in this book.
I thought this book was a bit darker than the last one and of not for Tink’s comic relief it would have been a lot darker.
I really loved Ivy in this book, no matter what was thrown at her she never gave up and was hanging on for dear life to stay true to herself. She was tested more than once and really always just came back out stronger. She endured quite a bit in this book, both emotional and physical.
Ren, was also pretty great, but he did have his moment, but really it just all made sense and anything else would have been hard to believe. I really like how much he is growing and becoming softer yet stronger at the same time. I think we will see some more surprises about him in book three, but I also might be wrong.
Tink, well I wish I had my own Tink …… I really do. I would just not have amazon prime lol. We learn some surprising new facts about him and that makes me like him even that much more. He still is super funny and has plenty of hilarious things to say. But we also see a more tender site of him. His constant back and forth with Ren is till happening.
Drake, well he is one class A jerk, but at the same time I kind of liked him . Just something about him that I can’t not explain….. Of course I know he is the villain but there is something about him that intrigues me about him.
Overall, great book plenty of surprises but also some things were pretty predictable but it was still great, We still had plenty of action , suspense, humor and of course Ren & Ivy scenes.
I really looking forward to the next book and maybe secretly hoping Tink gets his own books somehow.
I rate this book at 4 ½ ★
