On Fire
On Fire (Shadow Stalkers #4) - Sylvia Day
Darcy is a fire inspector in a small town investigating a series of arson incidents. Each is a place that Darcy is tied to in some way. After the third, she calls in for help. Jared, a Deputy Marshal arrives and is hot on the case. Insta-lust also flares up.
This was decent. Very heavy on the sex, but it also had a plot. I liked Darcy's vocation, different for a change. She also saved herself towards the end, so mad props to that. Jared was also likable, and I liked that he had moments where he was distracted.
I would have liked more on the mystery and Danielle. The suspense element could have been better. Everything was wrapped up, but *more* would have been wonderful. The "why" was lacking IMO. But, this did have halfway decent plot to all the sex that was happening on the page.

Slow start to this morning, this was the only book I finished for the readathon.

Taking the Heat
Taking the Heat (Shadow Stalkers #2) - Sylvia Day
Brian is a US Marshall tasked with protecting a witness while transporting her across the country to testify. Layla is that witness. It turns out they have a history together. First loves, they broke-up (but of course haven't forgotten each other). Complicating matters, Layla is the target of an assassination attempt.
Didn't care to much for this one. I had a harder time getting into the story. Don't get me wrong, the sexytimes were HOT, but it was just weird under the circumstances (someone has tried to kill you while on the way to testify in court, but who cares! Let's have sex!). Because I wasn't that into the story, moments like this one took me out more (not to mention gave me a case of the giggles): "She's found his prostate." and "...as her pussy spasmed in greedy delight." And let's not forgot this one: "...her womb spasming with need."
I did like the end and how they compromised to solve their issues.

Just you
Daniel's Christmas: Night Stalkers [Paperback] [2012] (Author) M L Buchman - M. L. Buchman

This is the 3rd book in The Night Stalkers series.  It is also known as # 1 in the Night Stalkers: White House series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and have a greater understanding of this acclaimed series, please read this series in order.

Daniel is White House Chief of Staff, and all that comes with it.  This keeps him too busy to have a personal life of any kind.  Lately, he wonders will he ever take the time for one?

Alice is an expert in her field.  She comes up with an important strategy the President needs to discuss with her.  This puts her right in Daniel's path.....

Such a quick paced and hot read.  Like all books in this series, your heart nearly jumps out of your chest reading.  Look for the advent calendar and some realIy romantic scenes!  I cannot wait to read more in this incredible series.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

***I received a free copy of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Shadow Love: Stalkers (Shadow Vampires #1) by Claudy Conn
Shadow Love: Stalkers - Claudy Conn
If you thought you had read everything to do with Dracula, then think again. Claudy Conn - Paranormal Romance Author has given the tale a new twist with her Shadow Love series, of which this is the first book. In this, you get a brief background with a few details to be going on with, and then you are in the action. Finding out who is who, wondering about others, disliking or not trusting yet even more.

This is a wonderful story that is well written, well paced and with characters that are fully dimensional and with depth. If you like Alpha Males then you have to choose between Chad and Damon... and even now I'm not sure which one I prefer!

There's not as much 'steam' in this book as in others of Claudy Conn's that I have read but that in no way detracts from the story.

Excellent start to the series.

Arc Review: It's Me Again, Baby (O'Connor Family #3) by Katie Reus
It's Me Again, Baby (O'Connor Family Series Book 3) - Katie Reus

*** 3.5 stars ***

Katie Reus is the queen of the second chances trope. She’s got that down to a science and this book only reinforced that thought for me.

Samantha and Maguire parted ways a while ago because of a misunderstanding but neither got over the other one. Now that they finally got a chance to talk things over they’re giving their relationship another chance.

The narrative of the story was fast-paced and so was the romance however it was still well told. Throw in the dynamics of one of my favorite fictional towns (not to mention some super hot sex scenes) and you have a nice, fun read. I didn’t like the ending much as I thought it was too rushed and expected but other than that it was an enjoyable read.

*** I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***
