New Release Review! Unearthed (Death Seeker #1) Cecy Robson!

Today, we are visiting the Fae who are trying to hide from DEATH in Jersey City! Enjoy and don't forget to add UNEARTHED by Cecy Robson to your shelves!

Fae was once a flourishing paradise. Until Death turned greedy and destroyed it, targeting the creatures who inhabited it. Those who survived escaped to Earth’s realm, but Death wasn’t far behind . . .

Olivia Finn is just another pixie trying to blend in among humans and hide from the death hounds who devoured her family. Clinging to the talisman that keeps her veiled from those who hunt her, she believes she is safe. . .. Until Death finds her and discovers she’s immune to its grip.

Now that Olivia’s power is unearthed, she is sought by Fae who see her as their savior and stalked by dark entities compelled to destroy her. Can she trust the King of the Dead who has sworn to train and protect her? Or should she obey her instincts that warn he desires more?

Olivia can no longer hide from Death. To survive, she must seek it.

The Fae escaped Death by fleeing to Earth’s realm unfortunately Death wasn’t far behind… Pixie Olivia Finn clings to talisman that keeps her veiled from Death and she believes that she is safe…until Death finds her and discovers that she’s immune to its grip. To survive, she must seek it but can she trust the King of the Dead who has sworn to train and protect her.

This new series is utterly fascinating with lots an intriguing fae culture, surprising elements and Death in its many forms. The characters are strong, bold and some are a little on the quirky side, adding a bit of spice, flair and fun to the story. There is some seriously electrical chemistry between Olivia and Ryker, but this budding romance has several obstacles, which keeps the relationship in suspense throughout and also adds to the emotional turmoil of the story which in this case, there are lots which isn’t surprising when the characters are being stalked by death entities.

The story is steady to fast paced with lots of thrills and excitement around a complicated way of life as the fae try to stay hidden from Death, but with surprising twists and several deadly battles, Olivia, Ryker and her friends can’t be sure who trust either… readers either as the final battle of this part of the story stuns the characters and the readers. This story certainly catches readers’ interest but some of it may leave readers with some questions, like why is Olivia a pixie who suddenly has all these awesome powers, but of course, this is an urban fantasy, so obviously Olivia’s story is not over and readers will learn more as she does.

UNEARTHED is the 1st book in the DEATH SEEKER series.

Fae was once a flourishing paradise. Until Death turned greedy and destroyed it, targeting the creatures who inhabited it. Those who survived escaped to Earth’s realm, but Death wasn’t far behind . . .

Cecy's dark and wonderous new urban fantasy series takes place in a law firm in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Fae, who now live and work in the city, found their way into earth's realm in their desperate attempt to escape the deadly death hounds who had turned on the Fae world. Many Fae perished in their pilgrimage to earth and their souls remain trapped in the bellies of the voracious beasts who killed them.

They have veiled their appearance to fit in with humans, working in similar jobs and living beside them. And, with death hot on their trail, the Fae have remained invisible to death so long as the magical talismans they wear remain intact. But the relentless death hounds are continuing to multiply, and it is only a matter of time before they learn where the Fae are hiding. To make matters worse there are other forms of death lurking in the shadows.

The fate of the Fae people and that of humankind may come down to one little wingless pixie. We can only hope that she is able to discover and master her true power before it is too late.

Vex: Mythical Ink 1 by LS Anders (Review)
Vex: Mythical Ink Series Book 1 - LS Anders

First book in a new series. Different from other PNR or U/F I’ve read in the sense of how the main character comes to live among humans. The gist of it all is that Vex and his friend Lucian are banished from their world for violating some rules and they are unceremoniously sent to earth. Decades later, they decide to set up their own tattoo parlor with the help of Sevin, a shifter they have come to care for and love as a son, all while Vex is still hoping to be sent back to his own world.

I loved the trio’s relationship. They acted like a family through and through. Vex was the tall, dark, and brooding of the three; Lucian had a much more calmer personality; and Sevin while still young was sweet and flirty.

Alea is a funny, witty fairy with her own ambitions and plans. As much as Vex tries to deny the attraction that started between them pretty much from the moment they met, it really doesn’t take much for him to give in into her desire for her. Even so, their relationship blazed at the right pace, not once feeling phony or forced. Their funny and witty banter had me laughing plenty of times.

Romance aside, there was a good solid plot that kept the story moving along. That said, I felt there were a few things in the story that needed to be addressed but instead we just skipped over them. There is also the ending of the story which I thought had lots of things going on instead of just Alea and Vex as the main focus, but that’s probably more of a personal preference.

**I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.**

Release Day Review! Bittersweet Christmas (The Order # 3.5) by Nina Croft
Bittersweet Christmas (The Order) - Nina Croft

Orphan Liam Ryan isn’t asking for much this Christmas--just his Uncle John. And he’s counting on Father Christmas to find a way to make that happen.

But when Father Christmas tosses Liam’s letter, claiming that the kid is asking the impossible, his daughter, Winter, takes over. Half-pixie, Winter, longs to do something important with her life, starting with getting a job at the Order of the Shadow Accords, the organization that polices the supernatural world. When she discovers Liam’s uncle works for the Order, it seems like fate.

Savaged by werewolves and bitten by a vampire, no one knows what to expect of John Ryan, but it won’t be anything good. So there’s no way he’s getting involved with his nephew...or anyone else. Worse, he’s getting a babysitter over the holidays. But when he meets irrepressible Winter, all that matters is whether she likes her guys to be naughty or nice....

Nina Croft has provided a wonderfully romantic holiday story that warms the heart while providing a thrilling adrenaline rush!

The Order is an exciting series full of brilliant characters that takes place in a vibrant world and Nina Croft brings it to life with well written words that grabs the reader’s attention and refuses to let go and this latest edition to the series is no exception. I fell in love with John Ryan and Winter, whom make a special love connection overcoming all odds and a murderous alpha. Nina has a way with adding special traits or characters to her stories that add a little something extra to her stories and really keep readers wanting more and I have to tell you the suspense in Bittersweet Christmas keeps building throughout the story which kept me on the edge of my seat while the romance sparkled with pixie dust and Father Christmas added his own touch to The Order as well and I really hope that Nina Croft intends to continue expanding the world of The Order.

Bittersweet Christmas is #3.5 in The Order series.

review SPOILER ALERT! 2017-03-16 12:21
Unbound is an Unimpressive Anthology Even Though it had 4 Big Names in it! Here's my Review...
Unbound - Kim Harrison, Jocelynn Drake, Jeaniene Frost, Vicki Pettersson,Melissa Marr

Ley Line Drifter by Kim Harrison - A pixy tries to solve a mystery and gets more than he bargained for.
★★ I liked how cute it was but there was a lot of repetition.

description

Reckoning by Jeaniene Frost - Bones is asked to hunt a ghoul couple in New Orleans by its Voodoo Queen. Of course, things aren't as they seem.
★★★ I liked the darkness and that Bones was able to carry the story without Cat.

Dark Matters by Vicki Pettersson - Dark & Light come together when agents from the opposite side come together.
★ No surprises.

The Dead, the Damned, and the Forgotten by Jocelynn Drake - A vampire fights to keep her domain under her control while she is being framed.
★★ Loved the violence, for instance, check out the quote below:

The fledgling was still in the attic, chained to the wall. For a moment, I wondered if I should go up and free, but quickly shook off the thought and got into the car. If she couldn't find a way to free herself, then she would never survive in my world.

but the story lacked cohesion.

Two Lines by Melissa Marr - A glaistig does her best to fight temptation and stay mortal.
★★ I really liked the parts with the glaistig's family but other than that, the story was repetitive and boring.
