“I want what you have with Sam. I want someone who won't freak out when I have a night like tonight. I want trust and respect and ... I want someone who'll say I love you in front of a crowd of co-workers and friends.”
“What?” I ask, admiring him with a breathless desire to recreate our kissing scene on the stone bridge. “No tie?”
“Don’t need it,” he says softly, the same desire clearly on his mind.
He steps towards me and moves me against the wall, placing his lips gently on mine. I take over, placing my hands behind his head and right through his hair, laying my lips against his with thousands of kisses, falling into a moment of bliss from which I never want to return.
Life wasn't fair of unfair; it was simply unexpected. Sometimes life's surprises were breathtakingly beautiful. Sometimes they were breathtakingly cruel. But surprises were always the raw material of life.
