That rare thing. A strong second-book in a trilogy.
Lindisfarne (Project Renova Book 2) - Terry Tyler

When I read (and reviewed) Tipping Point, the first novel in the Project Renova series, I guessed that setting the next story in Lindisfarne would bring things to the boil. If the first book introduced us to the main characters and set up the background of the story (how the population of the world had been decimated by a virus, the conspiracy that was behind what had happened, and a group of survivors set on creating a new life for themselves), the second one moves on from there and places a number of characters, with their personal crises, their problems, and their different origins and values, together in a very restricted environment. Lindisfarne is a wonderful place, but as I had observed before, is it not easy to hide there, and emotions are bound to ride high when people who would not normally have chosen to live together are thrown in close proximity to each other with no easy way out.

The author does a great job, again, of creating and developing characters that are real, with complex motivations (not all black or white), and whom we get to care about (well, some we get to truly dislike). The story is told the points of view of several characters. Some of the accounts are in the first person. Vicky, the woman who was the main character of the first book is still the central character here, but she shares her first-person narration with her daughter Lottie (who just becomes more and more fabulous as she grows, and she talks and thinks like a girl her age, even if a very strong and determined one) and Heath, the man she loves (but whom she has difficulty committing to). Some are in the third person. We are given a privileged insight into Wedge’s twisted mind (he is a biker who escaped prison in the first book and he reaches the island looking for revenge, and well, yes, he finds it), and the story of Doyle (a guy who was a data analyst and was involved in the running of the Renova project at a worker-bee level) who wanders alone most of the time until he stumbles across the next stage of project Renova is also included, although he is not part of the community. The stories of those two, Wedge and Doyle, are told in the third person, perhaps because they are the characters that are more closed-off and we are less likely to identify with (although we still see things from their points of view, not always pleasant, I might add). Doyle’s character also allows us to get a glimpse into what is going on in the world at large and what the forces pulling the strings are planning next. There is a chapter, a particularly dramatic one, where several points of view are used, for very good reason, but in the rest, it is clear who is talking, and there is no head hopping. The different points of view help give readers a better sense of the characters thanks to the varied perspectives and also provide us with some privileged information that makes us be less surprised by what happens than some of the characters are.

Vicky, who matured during the first book, continues to get stronger, but she goes through quite a few harrowing experiences in this book, she still finds it difficult to make decisions (she always thinks about everybody else’s needs first) and is sometimes two steps forward and one step back. When she comes face to face with the man she thought she could not live without again, she makes an understandable choice, but not one we’ll like. Later on, things take a turn for the better, but… The rest of the characters… I’ve mentioned Lottie. She’s great and I loved the chapters from her point of view. And we have an official psychopath baddie, but, well, let’s say he’s not the worst one of the lot. (To be truthful, I prefer an all-out ‘honest’ baddie to somebody who pretends to be good and do everything for others when he’s a lying, good-for-nothing… Well, you catch my drift).

I don’t want to give you too many details about the plot, but let’s say that we discover quite a few secrets, we come to meet characters we’d only heard about before and see them in all their glory (or not), there are strange alliances, issues of law and order, cheating, fights, and even murders. And we get a scary peep into what the future holds.

As I had said in my review for the first one, due to the care and attention given to the characters, and to the way the small community is configured (we get to know everybody and it is a bit like soap opera but in a post-apocalyptic environment), this book will be enjoyed also by people who don’t usually read this genre of novels. There is a fabulous sense of place and the author manages to use the island (its history, its landscape, and its location) to its utmost advantage. The books need to be read in order to truly understand the story, the development of the characters, and their motivation. If you haven’t read Tipping Point, I recommend you start with that one and keep reading.

I know there is a book of short-stories being published later in the year and the third novel next year. I can’t wait to see what will happen next after the epilogue (and what Dex will be up to next). A great series and one that makes us question what makes us human, what do we really need to survive, and what makes us civilised (if we are).

I was provided an ARC copy of the novel that I freely chose to review.

Quick and dirty - great if you like it that way.
Rebecca Royce BUNDLE (Shifters and Bikers Series) - Rebecca Royce

Overall this bundle consists of four short shifter/biker stories. The pace of the stories was fast, the characterisation minimal for the most part, and the backstory almost non-existent.

I liked some of the stories, but others I really disliked. The feel of the bundle was rushed and unfinished, unlike Rebecca's other polished series, this one leaves a bit to be desired.

Things I noticed:

Unwanted Mate:

12% - ...at the very top of least (left) breast...
16% - ...are you going to put it (in) my...

Bar Mate:

42% - His (He) adored her with his eyes.

SYNOPSIS: Cobra I’ve lived two lives. One full of innocence and one full of sin. I mourned the perfect life I was born into and made it my duty to chase the phantom who stole it from me. Revenge, mayhem and loss are all I know. I am the lone man—I am the wanderer. The former nomad—now, Satan’s deadliest soldier. The two worlds were never supposed to collide. Innocence and sin aren’t made to coexist yet somehow my past bleeds into the present and I find myself facing my biggest regret…I find myself face to face with her—the girl who got away. The girl I let go. The woman I’ll ruin if I stay. Celeste Our young love was marred by violence. Our guilt destroyed us, fate tempted us but, it was he who broke us. They say time heals all, but all time did was dull the ache of his abandonment. Now, dressed in leather, covered in ink the boy I mourned is now a man—a man tormented by his demons. In another life we were everything to one another. In this life we’re strangers.

Wanderer Excerpt

Prologue

Present Day As a boy, I identified desperation as a narcotic, something toxic that defined a man as weak. It was the sense of hopelessness I saw in my old man’s eyes every time the cops knocked on our front door. It robbed him of his ability to think straight and made him crave vengeance. For my father, desperation was his confirmed resignation on life. As a man, my views have changed and I now identify desperation as an act of war. The fundamentals of war are someone wins and someone dies trying but it is the cause, not the death that makes the martyr. My cause is simple. It’s driven by the ice in my veins. Fueled by the blood in my eyes. Sparked by the hate in my soul. My cause is retribution. I’ve been grooming myself for this battle since I was fourteen years old, since Vladimir Yankovich first took my sister. Back then, he didn’t have a face, nor did he have a name and by the time I discovered who was responsible for the tragedy that claimed our lives, the Russian cocksucker had already taken more from me by brutally killing my parents. I became familiar with desperation and morphed into the same hopeless man my father used to be. I wandered alone, hunting a faceless stranger for years, adding to my list of immoralities but never got my due vengeance. I gave up before I signed away on my confirmed resignation too. Resolving that all the sins I committed chasing the Devil would eventually catch up with me. Life only lets you get away with inflicting evil for so long. Sooner or later we all pay the price and when you get the bill, you better be prepared to pay. Today I got the bill and I’m paying for my sins but I’m not the only one—she’s paying too. With the heart of an angel and a soul so pure, I was sure she was sent from Heaven. So sweet. So innocent. She brought light into my life and I knew the moment I laid eyes on her I would never love anyone the way I love her. He knew too. Now, he’s taken from me again and I’ve become the man I feared being. I’ve become my father. And desperation has claimed me because I won’t let history repeat itself again. I won’t let Yankovich take from me and live to tell. Not this time. Not ever again. This is war and there is only one victor. All men have fears but the ones that are brave, place their fears down and go forward. Sometimes death is the only victory allowed. Lucky for me, I’ve never been afraid of dying. I used to think I’d die for my club, that the patch on my back was worth the sacrifice, but it’s that patch that’s led Satan to my doorstep. It’s the stitching that reads Brooklyn that has made my angel become Yankovich’s next target. Stripping the worn cut from my shoulders, I toss it to the ground as my boots pound the pavement and I run through the shipping yard. Alone, defying my brotherhood, chasing retribution I spot the boat anchored at the end of the pier. My father’s voice rings in my ears, reminding me to listen to my gut, schooling me on intuition. Intuition knows the game and has your best interest at heart. What my father should’ve taught me is retribution and bad decisions go hand in hand. He should’ve taught me not to be reckless because one reckless mistake is about to cost me the sweetest, the purest love I’ve ever known. One mistake can cost me her. The distinct rumble and roar of straight pipes echoes behind me and I know the men I once called my brothers have arrived and their duty isn’t to save me but to kill me. They can try but, they gotta catch me to kill me. Rounding the dock, I see Yankovich’s men running towards the boat. Without hesitation, I take my father’s advice and follow my gut, dragging the strap of my automatic shotgun around my shoulders. I lift the gun, wrap my finger around the trigger and ignore the voices behind me. “Cobra, stand down!” Riggs shouts from behind me. “Get back!” Blackie demands. Fuck them. I continue taking long strides along the wooden dock, closing in on my mark—deciding execution style is the way I’m going to deliver them to Hell but I’m too slow. They spin around, draw their weapons and unleash their bullets in my direction. Shot after shot. Clip after clip. Bang! Bang! Gun powder fills the air, mixing with the dense fog, making it impossible to see my targets or the bullets headed straight for me or the ones whizzing through the air from behind me. Blindly, I fire back, keeping my finger on the trigger as I have a showdown with death. Voices shout around me in both a native and foreign tongue. In front of me, my last rites are given to me in Russian. Behind me, orders of war are declared. “Riggs, press the fucking button,” Blackie bellows. “Cobra, get down!” Riggs shouts. “Do it now!” Blackie commands. “No,” I scream at the top of my lungs as I drop my gun. Spreading my arms wide, I close my eyes and offer myself to both sides of the fence, praying they take me and spare her. A million smiles flash before my eyes. Every single one I’ve tallied through the years. All belong to Celeste except for the final one. It’s the smile of an innocent child. Big blue eyes, pure and full of wonder, stare back at me asking me—pleading with me to rescue her from the ugly world. Save me, daddy. It’s her face I’ll die remembering…the beautiful face of my daughter. Helpless, spent and defeated, I drop to my knees as the blast reverberates through me and the sky lights in hues of orange and red. I open my mouth to scream but the voice I hear isn’t my own. “NO!” “Get back, Celeste!” Blackie barks. I close my eyes. “JAGGER!” Bullets tear through my skin. Blood pours from my wounds. But I don’t feel a thing. Numbly, I open my eyes and stare down the dock into the flames of Hell. Once the wanderer, I am now the martyr.

She’ trying to run. That won’t happen.
I’ll use whatever I can just to keep her, even if it is my d**k.
I’m an expert in making women give me what I want.
Dani just doesn’t realize who she’s dealing with yet.
She will. I’ve claimed her… She’s mine.

Dani

I’m have secrets that will kill me someday. I need to stay ahead of them.
I run straight into his arms.

All I need is his body, his touch and his deliciously dirty mouth.
He’s not mine to claim.
One more taste and I’ll leave.
Before my past finds me…

Our Review

I have to start off by saying that I absolutely love this authors books.I am so glad that I came across her books as we can't  get enough of them.I love both her MC Romance series.

I have to say that I love this particular MC series. This author made it so all the books are read as standalone titles but, act like a series. The stories are all about the Savage Brother MC members and their women.I recommend however reading them as them came out only because I think you get more out of the characters development this way but , reading out of order you still will be able to follow the series easily.I love reading books in series.I love following the characters from book to book.I know that the story focuses on two main characters but, all the other brothers and their girls made this story so much more exciting and fun to read.

When I started reading about these character's Dani was one of my favorites from Breaking Dragon.I was so glad she got her own story.I have to say that Crusher ended up being the perfect match for Dani's wounded soul.I am thinking that although I love all the stories in this series Dani's my favorite of them all.I was rooting from book one that this broken women would find love and happiness at some point in her treacherousness life.

I always pick one character that I love to rave about all the things I liked and loved about them.My pick this time around is Dani.Dani is the type of character that latched on to your heart strings once you start reading her story.Just as she did mine. I am amazed at how Dani survived and endured the treacherousness life she had before she came to the Savage Brother MC.She was an amazingly strong women (previously known as Melinda) to do what she did an not become  just an emotional shell of a person. What happened to her did not totally destroy her just made her stronger.Dani's story was so mind blowing that with every detail we discovered about her the more the tears fell.

I found that she could be funny, sassy, playful when joking with the men at the club.I love how she teased a few of brothers who seemed to allow it .Making you laugh out loud at her antics and choice words. Not all the member's liked Dani and she constantly felt their distrust. Some of the brothers gave her a Nickname the Ice Queen.Anyone who made any attempt to get to know her new that name to be a false one.I admired her for controlling all her emotions and keeping them bottled up.It must have been a full time job for her because every word spoken you new she was living in hell.

Dani came off as a loud mouth, feisty hard a**bitch but,in reality I think that she wasn't any of those things.I think however she needed to become that person just to survive. As the story progresses you catch glimpses of the real Dani but, in a blink of and eye there gone .Making those moments more previous to us.I loved how she was fiercely loyal to those she loved and cared about.I loved her protective nature she had when dealing with the few individuals she let in like Nicole and Crusher
(Zander to her ).

Crusher was the perfect man for her ,Zander as she calls him . Zander took Dani to task more than once and challenged her something she needed in her life to grow and heal. She needed a man who pushed her to make her feel something other than pain.

Favorite quotes

This is Dani speaking! My favorite quote showing her sense of humor and fierceness when first meeting Dragon.

"Hello there,Tall Dark and Do-Me-All over."

Can you just picture this tiny little thing looking up at this fierce looking bada** biker appraising him for head to toe saying this .I laughed out loud and couldn't stop laughing.

Crusher & Dragon discussion lead to another favorite quote.

"She's got trouble written all over her,"Dragon replies."Yeah but what a trip. Some things are with the trouble man,".

How could I not fall in love with Zander after saying that about Dani that she was worth loving .(sigh)Crusher is the type of man you should be very afraid of.One look in his direction and your brain flashes Danger Beware.Top that off and he has one heck of a sexual appetite that is known all to well throughout the club to share his women. It will take a special women to tame the beast.I personally think that Dani is up for the challenge .I know Dani is the one to make this fierce biker fall just like his other brothers. Zander will not be able to stop himself from loving this broken women as she has all the traits he has always wanted in a women .I loved how Zander/Crusher interacted with Dani with patience and kindness knowing that this was not really his style he was more hard edge.Being with Dani brings out his caring and softer side his protective instincts. With this being said it makes all their interactions more endearing and heart felt because its so out of character for Zander. Loved these moments (sigh)I liked Zander giving Dani a nickname ,he names her Hellcat which fits her to the tee. This nickname was more of and endearment that meant something and it was only for her. This making Dani feel special. When Zander spoke the nickname it made Dani feel things instead of keeping all her emotions locked up inside her.I loved seeing that side of her .Crusher was so hot in and out of bed that he made my heart speed up a bit with his dirty talk and dominate nature.I loved Zander's playful manner in bed .Wow ! Can you say fanning myself and smiling!

I loved following Zander and Hellcat's journey on falling in love.I also enjoyed seeing this couple heal as the story went along just by being together and loving each other with such a fierce passion. This story was a page turner that filled you with all kinds of emotions and feelings. There is so much going on throughout the story club drama, clan rivals wanting them dead creating danger for its members and their families. This story also dealt with abuse rape torture both physical and emotional. The plot dealt with love ,laughter, healing, pain with a bit of suspense making it even more of and enjoyable read.It helped me to connect with the characters I was reading about as you could not but help feel their pain.My heart ached for Dani.I shed more than a few tears when reading this story.I felt connected to them which I love and that with the added element of erotica and you had a super hot read.

Another keeper and a recommended read.We are giving this read 5 stars and recommend you check out the other books in the series as well.

I was never meant to have a happily ever after.
It was a fate I accepted a long time ago.
Before he came for me, taking away who I am, I needed to escape.
Just for one night.
One man turned my entire world upside down.
I should have walked away, but something about him wouldn’t let me.
Now I’m lying to him.
He’s going to find out the truth, or my life will catch up to me.
Either way, I lose him.
It’s a thought I can’t bear.
People have always told me love is amazing and powerful.
They’re wrong.
It makes you weak…exposing your vulnerabilities…making you easy prey.
Love is heinous.

Twisted and Nikki Story

We met Twisted in Corrupted.I have to say that I really liked him then as he seemed to be the softer of the bunch of his bada** biker brothers.Twisted meets Nikki randomly one night for a one night stand that turned out to be so much more...Another great story in the DeathStalkers Mc series. One thing I have learned when reading this series is that you are going to be reading a heart wrenching story.

There are several things that I loved about the story and a few things that annoyed me but, overall all it was a fantastic read. What I disliked is that Nikki did not shared any details of what she was running from.I could have understood if her man was a suit or every day joe but, Twisted was a man who would have understood .I get that everyone is entitled to their secrets but, she had someone in a position to help her or at least advise her how to escape her situation .I also disliked that when she did spill about things that happened to her she didn't tell the whole truth. Knowing, these things will come back and haunt you later on.I just feel she should have had more faith in him.I feel that their entire relationship she never fought for them as a couple.I know that she loved him so , it made it harder for me to understand the decisions she made .I believe she made the wrong choice's she should have put her trust in him.

I always pick a favorite character and mine would have to be Twisted. He is such a great guy he is caring, has a softer side and has a sense of humor around thosehe cares about.Twisted is also a very protective and possessive of those he cares about.Although we see the softer side of him occasionally but ,don't get me wrong he is deadly.I like that he is the take charge kind of guy that does not crack under pressure. I liked that he never gives up on what he wants. His motto "its worth the wait.''I also loved  how he deals with all the old ladies of the club who he truly cares about and is a charmer to boot. They love him !Twisted has waited a long time to care about someone. With his messed up childhood and trust issues in which he has not dealt with, he figured he was to scarred for someone to love.I feel the loneliness in him.In Nikki though he senses all these same things and he knows she is running from something. Kindred spirits perhaps?I could sense Twisted's frustrations and pain because I believe he would like to have let down his guard for once.I feel that he would really like to give himself to someone and find love and happiness .You sense his longing.

I loved the chemistry between this couple .Their sexual encounters were super hot and playful events.Nikki and Twisted make a great couple but, to her its only temporary. My heart breaks for her as she knows her freedom is coming to an end.Nikki believes that she will never be able to escape her past. You constantly catch glimpses of her sadness it breaks your heart to see her hurting so much.I loved how she taunts and teases Twisted all the time ,it was funny to see.At these instants you could not help but laugh.I felt  Nikki's pain as she falls in love with Twisted knowing she will never be able to tell him how she feels.Nikki's aura is filled with sadness, loneliness and fear.Nikki would be the perfect fit for Twisted as she has a temper , is feisty, has a sense of humor and is familiar with the MC Life. She also is not naive to hardships of what life deals you ,she has lived them.

The story had everything you could ask for.The story has a mystery to solve, love, laughter, drama, danger, hot sex,bad boys, sexy hot men and friends and family. All of those other characters and their old ladies in the story with their ups and downs helped make it a great read.I just love reading books in series where the character's grace the pages from book to book.I just love that. This story was definitely an emotional roller coaster. The emotional pain was gripping at times and your heart broke for each and everyone of these characters.

This story is not for those who are light hearted. This story deals with rape both adult and childhood ,torture, graphic sex and foul mouth men.All these things through made a compelling fast pace heart wrenching read.Your emotions making you happy, sad, terrified, scared and pissed off all at the same time.

Another great installment in the DeathStalkers MC Trilogy. (This was book Two) A 5 star read from us here a Angels.I highly recommend this book if your a big fan of MC romance and Bad Boys.

About Author

I love reading romance books! I feel like being able to lose yourself in a book in one of the more exciting aspects. The books I love to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. You should have an opinion on every character in a book. Whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something.

I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. On top of starting a writing career I am a full time student, and a full time mom. I love spending time with my kids, although I have to hide the computer from them when I am writing! I love being active and being able to do any activity outdoors.

I have always thought as an author the most important critic is your reader, so I would love to hear from you. If you read the book and loved it or hated it, tell me. As long as it is in a constructive way I will always answer and interact with you. I want fans to feel free to tell me what they want for the characters in the story and what they want to see happen.
