Daughter of Deep Silence - Carrie Ryan

♪♫My Pick For Book Theme Song♫♪

Colors by Crossfade  --This one took me awhile…I thought maybe, Going Under by Evanescense, and All Around Me by Flyleaf, and they both fit for this book…I just really wanted something that conveyed how I felt about this story and Libby/Frances as a whole.

♫Can you feel it crush you does it seem to bring the worst in you out

There's no running away from these things that hold you down

Do they complicate you because they make you feel like this

of all the colors that you've shine this is surely not your best

But you should know these colors that you're shining are

Surely not the best colors that you shine♫

Book Title:  Daughter of Deep Silence

OVERALL RATING:  4/5 STARS (GRADE=B+)

My Thoughts

The GOOD: This is so much like the TV show Revenge, in Revenge you have an Emily/Amanda girl and in this you have Libby/Frances girl.  In truth, the reasons for their revenge are completely different, it's the deceptions and the emotions that are similar.  The confusion of the two characters warring inside each other at once, felt very similar.  I liked this about it.  The narration was excellently done, Karissa Vacker made the listening experience pleasant and easily accomplished.

The BAD:  My first complaint is this seemed a little too convenient, like everything fell into place too easily, even when it tried to make it seem like things weren't going according to plan.   My second is the ending, it was rushed and I'm not sure I always knew what was happening.

OVERALL: a worthwhile read for me…and if you think you would like a YA young love take on Revenge, this could be perfect for you.

The Earth Dwellers (The Dwellers Saga) - David Estes

♪♫My Pick For Book Theme Song♫♪

Another One Bites The Dust by Queen  --Another series finished, I'm seriously on a roll with finishing series lately…so this song is for all of the series that I've conquered lately…also…because David Estes is not afraid to kill off key people and he literally slayed me with some throughout the series, especially one in particular from this very book…♫

My Thoughts

Can you imagine people living underground?  Like way underground…so far down, it takes a half hour to get to the surface.

Imagine a fake sun, a fake horizon, a fake moon, even fake stars…and then imagine never knowing anything different.

It's crazy to think about…the premise of this series is an intricately woven one.  7 books in total 3 from Dwellers saga, and 3 from the Country saga, all culminating in one final book…Earth Dwellers.  All the players (at least the ones he hasn't killed off) are here, but the book pov switches between only 4 of the main characters from other books: Sienna, Dazz, Adele and Tristan…even Perry makes an appearance.  Overall, a gripping, yet sweetly pleasing end to this total series.  There's so much more he (David Estes) could do with this world, though.  Oh…the possibilities…

These Shallow Graves - Jennifer Donnelly

My Thoughts

The Luxe Series meets Nancy Drew…well sort of anyway.  The time period is very similar to the Luxe Series, but with less talk of fashion and high society manners.  Although, it does drone on at times about the latter.  It could have done without some of that and maybe been a little less lengthy.  Overall, a engaging murder/mystery, despite my being correct all along about whodunit. I suggest Audio format, it really makes the slow parts easier to get through.

The Midnight Star (Young Elites Book 3) - Marie Lu

♪♫My Pick For Book Theme Song♫♪

Monster by Skillet  --For Adelina…the monstrous girl…

The secret side of me, I never let you see

I keep it caged but I can't control it

So stay away from me, the beast is ugly

I feel the rage and I just can't hold it

It's scratching on the walls, in the closet, in the halls

It comes awake and I can't control it

Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head

Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?

My Thoughts

Overall, a satisfying ending to this vivid, darkishly fantastical realm.  While, I didn't like this as much as her Legend Series, it was a worthwhile read.  Despite my minds underwhelming capacity for the fantastical.  If you sometimes like to root for the bad guys, then this should be to your liking.

A fast paced, suspenseful mystery, that's not without it's flaws.  But, overall I found this nail bitingly intense and hard to put down.  As long as you're not expecting literary perfection, and you enjoy YA Suspense/Mysteries this is a thrilling read.  Seriously, I just kept waiting for the banjo...
