Temporary
Convincing Cole - Jaclyn Quinn

Cole has moved back to his hometown with the best friends of a lifetime.  Now that he is here, however, finding someone to appreciate him as he is may prove difficult.  Until he gets the surprise he never saw coming.

Aiden has grown up with Cole, though he has family problems of his own.  Making a name for himself by going out on his own with his bar - he takes chances others won't.  Then one night he takes the riskiest change yet.

These men are so good together it is almost too sweet for words.  I love the comraderies and friendships that bring humor, love, and joy in this story.  The heat is also turned all the way up as the unexpected sparks and keeps the fire burning bright.  Could not finish this one fast enough.  I give this a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Never Say Necklace takes readers on an adventure of the heart. Jaclyn Hardy entices with romance while crafted an intriguing mystery of epic proportions. Carlie and Braden are in over their heads while in fear of losing their hearts. Between the words of Hardy and the delivery of Sheckells getting caught up is all to easy.

The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone - Jaclyn Moriarty
The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of... The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone - Jaclyn Moriarty

So much win.  It's kind of amazing how much I love Moriarty's books. I really liked how it all came together. Interesting universe with so many pirates and dragons and water sprites, but also committees and dull trips and people being late to pick one up at the station. I only had two tiny quibbles: it's weird to read about a girl living in a more-or-less-contemporaneous setting who wears dresses or skirts all the time. It's just a slight thing, but it pulls me just the tiniest bit out of the story every time a dress or skirt is mentioned because I so rarely see girls or women in them anymore. And also, this is a very white world. Not that everyone is explicitly called white, but because no one isn't. The illustrations reinforce the white-is-default impression. It's a good thing that I've become so accustomed to reading books with a diverse cast that I can't stop noticing when there aren't any other characters.

Despite those two issues, I loved the book. It's my favorite middle grade in I don't know how long. Highly recommended for white readers.

Hard to Get
Hard to Get - Jaclyn Quinn

I have to say, there is something about Jacyln Quinn's writing, stories and characters that just pull me in completely.  I loved Gabe from the first book.  His wit and style made me very curious about this man and his "relationship" tactics.

Well, let's just say, he is nothing like he seems.  Honest, sweet and such a devoted friend he is indeed.  But there was much more to this man than met the eye and I loved him all the more.

Enter Nate.  My heavens, this was also a character who is not at all what he seemed in the first book.  His pushback and protective nature was wonderfully developed.  And his story is one that I honestly did not see coming.  But work it did...and it certainly worked on our sweet Gabe.

As with book one, the dialogue for me feels so natural and the situations never feel contrived.  Once again I was drawn into this setting, this cast of characters, their friendships and love for another.  The friendship that has been formed between Gabe and Jonah is the perfect example.  These two are wonderful together.

I eagerly await Jonah's story...he needs him something amazing and the shy ginger may be absolutely perfect.  Can't wait!

An ARC was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Reading progress update: I've read 47%.
Hard to Get - Jaclyn Quinn

As they all turned in the direction of the diner, Lily reached up, taking not only Nate’s hand, but Gabe’s as well. Nate and Gabe shared a look over her head, and a sudden pride spread throughout Gabe. He felt like he belonged…to them. He’d had everything he could possibly want all his life: cars, houses, boats, clothes. None of those things filled him with the pride he felt walking down a small town Main Street, with these two people by his side.

❤️❤️❤️
