Blog Tour w/Review - Too Hard To Resist

One rookie assistant + one demanding executive = flirting that is too hot to handle.

Have you ever wished for the perfect job? Me, too. So when I land a temporary gig with a worthwhile and exemplary startup, I’m determined to make it permanent. That my boss is the gorgeous, clever Elliot Sax is nothing I can’t handle. We may steal glances at each other and straddle the line of playing it safe, but our partnership is too important for complications. Not to mention workplace hookups are against the rules.

But when our attraction flames hotter, our best efforts are put to the test. I never imagined having to fight my feelings for him on a daily basis and keeping my hands to myself is absolutely killing me.

Until I can’t. Until we can’t. And what’s at stake becomes more than our jobs. What’s at risk is our hearts.

Each book in the Wherever You Go series is STANDALONE:

* Talk British to Me
* Lips Close to Mine
* Too Hard to Resist

We land at the end of the bar, a dimly lit corner with one available stool. Elliot motions for me to sit. “Can I buy you a drink?” he asks.

Since my nerves are doing jumping jacks in my stomach, yes he can. “Okay.”

He waves the bartender over. The guy behind the counter is attractive and greets Elliot like he knows him. I order a tequila sunrise. Elliot orders a beer.

“This is weird,” he says.

I let out the breath I was saving for later, happy I’m not the only one who is restless. “It is.”

“It shouldn’t be.” He leans his elbows on the bar. Like me, he’s still in his work clothes. His shirtsleeves are rolled up. His collar is loose. He smells really good, a mix of man and some kind of cologne. His hair is finger-combed sexy, and I wonder if it’s as soft as it looks. “I don’t want it to be.”

“Me, either.”

He shifts, rests his side against the counter. Electric-blue eyes fringed with dark lashes hold me in place. “So let’s not let it. We work great together, and I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that.”

“Agreed. So, maybe when we’re not at work, we just forget we work together?”

“I can do that. What’s harder is forgetting we’re friends, too, while at work.”

I swallow. The way he’s looking at me…I think the attraction I feel isn’t one-sided. My heart starts to pound.

“I like you,” he says.

And my heart pounds double-time. “I like you, too.” But even if he weren’t my boss…he’s a million miles out of my comfort zone. I’d never be enough for someone like him. Someone far more experienced than I am—in love and life. I’ve heard enough stories from Mateo, and I’ve seen him with enough different girls over the years to know Elliot Sax is a playboy and isn’t interested in anything serious.

“Sometime this week, though—I take that back—I know exactly when. On Wednesday morning when you presented me with a month-long agenda divided into three sections that included strategy, growth, and investor management—we became a team.”

A huge smile splits my face in two.

“And correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you’re happy at ZipMeds.”

“I am. Very.”

“So friends it is, with the caveat that I am your boss, and there’s a line there we have to be careful of.”

“Right,” I say, realizing he likes me, but he doesn’t like me. Which is for the best.

“I have no idea what you get paid, but I’ll look into it.”

“That’s not—”

“I also want to make your position permanent.”

“You don’t have—” I stop myself. “What did you say?” Before the grin taking over my face gets too big again, I need to hear that one more time.

“Here you go.” In my periphery, the bartender puts our drinks down. Without taking his eyes off mine, Elliot picks up our glasses. He hands me mine.

“Congratulations, Madison.”

“You want to hire me full-time?”

“If that’s what you want.”

“Yes, it’s what I want.”

“Then we have ourselves a deal.” He clinks his glass to mine, then takes a big gulp of his beer.

I watch his lips move, his throat work. It’s sexy and—I dart my gaze everywhere else but at his face while I take a sip from my tiny straw. One sip turns into two, turns into three. I’m just going to drink the whole yummy thing. When I lift my eyes to his, I find them lasered in on my mouth. My breasts grow suddenly heavy. I ache between my thighs. It’s like he can command my body to respond just to his regard. This is bad.

But feels so good.

Too Hard to Resist (Wherever You Go, #3)Too Hard to Resist by Robin Bielman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book #3, in the Wherever You Go series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading this series in order.

Madison has looked everywhere for a job. Finally getting employed, she finder herself working for a friend of a friend she was attracted to. Elliot was already a non-starter, and with the job, it will never happen.

Elliot has never looked at Madison as a prospect for an assistant, nor as a romantic interest. Now with her in his life on a daily basis it is shaking up everything he has known. With office romance as a reason to be fired - is it enough to keep his hands to himself?

Sexy as always, the latest installment from this series delivers. The heat is intense from cover to cover as this amazing couple gets their story. Characters who have the banter, heat and what it takes to entertain make it all worthwhile.

This author Q and A is brought to us from Pure TextualityPR

What is the first book that made you cry?

I tend to read books that won’t make me cry, so the first one to do so was Ugly Love, I think. Oh my God, did I love that book. There are very few novels I’ve read a second time, but this is one of them – tears and all.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

There are a few things that can interrupt my writing – my dog Harry (who is too cute for words and loves to play), favorite TV shows that my hubby likes to watch with me, and coffee dates with friends. Friend + coffee = happy time away from my computer.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

I am so fortunate to have made the most wonderful friends while writing! I’m afraid I’ll accidentally leave someone out (I hope you know who you are and that I love you!), so I’m just going to mention one, Samanthe Beck. She is the best, and I am so lucky to call her friend. She has helped me become a better writer through our talks about character, plot and conflict, reading drafts of my books, offering the best help and or solution when I’m stuck (and when I just need to keep going), and basically being beside me on this crazy, wonderful writing journey. She gets me, and that’s a gift I treasure. We’ve just turned in our first co-authored book, and I can’t wait for readers to meet our hero and heroine! Writing with Sam was amazing, and I hope to do it again.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

All of my books can standalone, but are part of different series, with connections between family or friends.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Oh my gosh! I woul tell her to write romance novels! I loved writing growing up, and did a different kind of writing after college, so I wish I’d discovered my love of writing books sooner.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

I do often research before starting a book, usually to learn more about my hero or heroine’s occupation. Sometimes that requires a lot of research, other times a little. I’ll also research places. While my most recent series takes place in Los Angeles (which I’m very familiar with), previous books have taken place in fictional towns based on real places. Making up a town means I can do whatever I want there, but I like for it to resemble somewhere readers can hopefully identify with.

How many hours a day do you write?

This varies depending on my work schedule and how close I am to my deadline. ;)

How do you select the names of your characters?

Names are super important to me! And I love to use ones that aren’t very common. I keep an eye out for interesting names during the credits of TV shows, look up names online at baby name sites, and write down names that catch my attention in magazines.

If you didn’t write, what would you do for work?

I do work part-time doing something I love. I’ve got a medical background and currently work for my local school district teaching CPR classes.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

I used to read them all the time, but don’t anymore. I do read the ones where a reader or blogger tags me, since those tend to be only good ones. I love those! LOL They always put a smile on my face and I’m so happy that I’ve made someone else feel good for a little while. I’ve definitely been upset over reviews in the past, so that’s why I try not to look anymore. I am grateful to everyone who reads my books, though, and each reader is allowed their opinion, so when I think of it like that, it’s easier. I will say I’ve definitely grown a thicker skin over the years.

Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?

No, but I totally should! May have to start doing this. ☺

What is your favorite childhood book?

The Velveteen Rabbit was my favorite as a young child – and I still have it!

Does your family support your career as a writer?

My family has been amazingly supportive. I wouldn’t be here without the confidence my husband has in me, his love, his encouragement, and his patience during those weeks when my laptop gets way more attention than he does. My mom is also my biggest cheerleader and tells all her friends about my books.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

On average it takes me 3-4 months to write a book.

A woman’s voice was on the other end of the line, strained and wary.

“Raul Sá.” He pulled the phone away from his ear to glance at the screen. No traceable caller ID.

“I was calling the Search and Protect Organization.” The woman hesitated. “I’m looking for Arin Siri.”

“She’s working right now. Must’ve forwarded her calls to my line.”

There was a long pause. “This is Mali, Arin’s sister. Please help me.”

It’s Release Day! Rome’s Chance (Reapers MC) by Joanna Wylde ~ Excerpt

From New York Times Bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes ROME’S CHANCE, a new novella in her Reapers MC series, brought to you by 1,001 Dark Nights! Be sure to grab your copy today!

About ROME’S CHANCE:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…

Rome McGuire knew he was in trouble the first time he saw her.

She was sweet and pretty and just about perfect in every way. She was also too young and innocent for the Reapers Motorcycle Club. He did the right thing, and walked away.

The second time, he couldn’t resist tasting her.

Gorgeous and smart, fun and full of wonder, she jumped on his bike and would’ve followed him anywhere. Still, she deserved a shot at happiness somewhere bigger and better than a town like Hallies Falls. Walking away wasn’t so easy that time, but her family needed her and he had a job to do.

When she came around a third time, he’d had enough. Randi Whittaker had been given two chances to escape, and now it was time for Rome to take his.

This time, the only way Randi would be leaving Hallies Falls was on the back of Rome’s bike.

“Randi?” I froze, because I knew that voice.

Rome McGuire.

The sound was rough and sexy, with just a hint of a growl. Deeper than it’d been eight years ago, when I’d thrown caution to the wind and hopped on the back of his motorcycle for one glorious night.

Back then, I’d still been a shy little thing, terrified that some hot biker might actually want to talk to me, let alone take me out. When I caught him watching me at the party, I remembered studying the floor, his shirt collar, even the beer in my plastic cup, because I hadn’t known what to do with myself around such raw male glory. Apparently some things never change, because when I turned to face him, I found myself staring at the floor again.

This was a mistake, because his feet were down there. And the battered, black leather boots he wore led to jeans-covered legs. Legs topped by thick, muscular thighs.

Stop it. You’re acting like a giant dork! My brain hissed.

Oblivious and mesmerized, my gaze rose to the faded denim around his fly, and it was all over. My eyes started tracing the folds of the Okanogan Fire and Rescue T-shirt covering his still-muscular chest, although the Reapers Motorcycle Club vest he wore was a change. Back then, he’d been hanging around the Nighthawk Raiders MC. That whole club had disappeared for reasons I’d never fully understood, and the Reapers had taken over the town shortly afterward. Apparently Rome was one of them now.

Interesting…

I’d always wondered what’d happened to Rome after I’d left. We’d never said goodbye. That summer, the wildfires had swept through so fast that my family had to evacuate with the clothes on our backs. We hadn’t bothered to come back and sift through the ashes.

I’d kept in touch with my old boss, Tinker, of course.

I’d even considered asking her about Rome, but in some ways those fires were the best thing that ever happened to me. Starting over meant starting college in Missoula, and then a whole new life.

Wasn’t like Rome and I could’ve ever been anything real, anyway. Guys like him weren’t for girls like me.

My gaze reached his neck, which bristled with thick, black stubble that was more than a little out of control—this was different from when I’d known him before. Not that he’d ever been baby-faced, but he’d definitely matured. Now there were a few wrinkles around those dark blue eyes, although the dimple was still there. So was the crooked smile that’d spontaneously combusted my panties.

Correction.

A crooked smile that was currently combusting my panties. Who knew that a supermarket could be such dangerous territory?

“Been a long time,” he said. I shrugged, unsure what to say. I mean, yeah, we’d gone out on a date. He’d kissed me and wow… Not that we’d gotten much past second base, but he’d scored a home run in the lower deck of my ballpark, if you know what I mean. But he was one of those guys—you know, the kind of guys who hit lots of home runs with lots of girls.

“Yeah, well…” My words trailed off.

Fae agent, Roman Cetanni has spent his tenure as one of Azgarth’s representatives trying to shield his charges from the fae master’s wrath. But what once seemed a division of worlds has now morphed until the lines between the human and fae world are blurred.

Even as Roman tries to help Nicholas recover from his injuries, a new threat looms. Lately more beings from the fae have invaded the human realm, and Oiredon, another fae master, wishes an alliance with Roman and his charges to aid in overthrowing Azgarth. In these uncertain times, one thing is for certain: war has come to the fae and the lives of the humans they’ve touched hang in the balance.

Chapter One

Light caressed Lady Clarissa’s bare breasts, creating interesting shadows as supplied by the long dark hair that cascaded over her shoulders in tousled curls. The strands revealed as much as they hid. She lay on the bed, gaze fixed out the window, staring at the moonlight. A pensive expression filled her lovely face. She didn’t do pensive well. Pouting and preening were more in line with her nature. Oh, there were the intrigues, instigations, and incidents, but they were solely to amuse.

“How much longer, Nicholas?”

“Not too much, my dear.”

Nicholas Alexandre put the finishing touches on the canvas and stepped back from his work. He’d painted her as Tatiana from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Most people assumed Shakespeare wrote the play as a fanciful comedy. What they didn’t know, or understand, was the fact the Bard wrote it from his experiences of the fae realm.

Lady Clarissa was as much Tatiana as any woman Nicholas had ever known. Petty and jealous, she lived in a world where her needs and desires were met at the cost of those around her. He indulged her because her behavior, though outrageous, amused him. He enjoyed the way her schemes horrified society. These days, it was the only thing that lifted his grief.

He studied the details of the painting, not quite satisfied with the illumination. Not to worry, he’d add flourishes later. For now, he was exhausted and wanted only to pack up his paints and—

The door burst open and banged against the wall.

“You wretched whore!”

Lady Clarissa screamed and grabbed at a sheet to shield her naked torso from her enraged husband. “My heart, it’s not what you think.”

Sir Rodderick Danworth laughed and held the dueling pistol pointed at Nicholas’s stomach. “You expect me to believe that? In my own bedroom?”

Nicholas wiped paint from his brush, unperturbed that the angry husband threatened his life. “As you see, I came here to work. I’m nothing more than a humble painter.”

The laugh this time came out bitter, pained. “There is nothing humble about you. Do your promises mean nothing?”

A prick of conscience and a slight brush of regret. “My word is still good, but my purse is not subject to the whims of honor. I still need to eat and live. I have a grieving mother to support.”

The fact his mother hadn’t left her bed since his sister’s death, notwithstanding.

Rodderick kept his gaze focused on Nicholas, much as a hunter might a wild animal. Something stirred in the depths of his eyes, not entirely of the man himself. “You are nothing more than a deceiver. A liar.”

Nicholas inclined his head in a subtle acknowledgment of the accusation and let his suspicions fall to the ground unvoiced. “And so I am what the world has made me.”

Realization and pain morphed into fury, filling Rodderick’s eyes. He fought an inner demon that shone in the dark depths. The gun went off.

Nicholas watched in horror as the shot struck him true. Crimson bloomed across the front of his white shirt, spreading like paint through a jar of mineral spirits. Odd how no pain registered.

The paintbrush dropped from fingers that no longer worked. Sound became a distant, hollow thing. A scream came from behind him, but even that had the quality of a train entering a tunnel, the whistle fading into the dark earth.

If he’d had the ability, Nicholas would have laughed. A mortal wound would not kill one such as him; it only released him into the hands of the fae master, Azgarth. And therein lay his real fear. Servitude on this plane was one of commerce, a way to provide for his family in the manner they’d become accustom. Being one of the chosen in the fae realm for eternity was not the thing of beauty Azgarth promised. The thing he’d seen welling in Rodderick’s eyes.

The only one to derive any pleasure from such an association was Azgarth himself. However, it might give him a chance to see Juliana again. To see if she’d been taken into the fae realm on her death and protected.

Rodderick stood over him, his face white, lips pale. Tears streamed down his face. The darkness had faded from his eyes. “Look what you made me do.”

He was unsure if Rodderick meant Nicholas, Clarissa, or Azgarth. He moved his arm to try to cover the wound and staunch the flow, but could do nothing more than watch as the blood began to soak into the carpet beneath.

Lady Clarissa finally rose from the bed. She stood over Nicholas, looking down on him.

Her mouth was pinched with displeasure, no doubt for the stains that ruined the Aubusson. “I knew your jealousy would one day be your downfall.”

Rodderick still held the pistol. Disbelief pulled his mouth down at the corners. “I’ve killed him.”

Nicholas tried to inform Rodderick that he was very much mistaken—he still lived and heard every word they said. The one to kill him was much worse than Rodderick could ever imagine.

Lady Clarissa took Rodderick by the arm. “No. We will keep this between the two of us.

Call Charles and have him dump the body in Whitechapel. No one will bat an eye for one more murder in that part of town.”

Rodderick nodded mutely. He started out of the room, then turned back as Nicholas took one last shuddery breath.

It’s Release Day! Fallen Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan ~ Excerpt

Mace was making a fucking mistake, and he didn’t care. Adrienne tasted like sin and seduction, and he knew if he stopped kissing her, he’d let his mind wander to what the hell he was doing, and he’d fuck up everything even more.

So, he kept kissing her.

And then he took it deeper. His fingers tangled in her hair, and she slid her hands up his chest, digging into his flesh. Their moans were lost in the wind and rain outside as it beat down on the bathroom window, and he couldn’t help but explore her mouth.

He’d thought about doing this countless times; thought about tasting her, having her. He’d imagined himself licking up her neck and down between her breasts before devouring her everywhere else. He’d thought about how she’d arch into him as he plunged into her, and they’d both come, panting and sweaty.

He’d thought about all of it because he’d been attracted to Addi from day one, but had never wanted to hurt their friendship. That was still the case because she was the most important adult in his life, the strongest relationship he had with another person besides Daisy.

So why was he still kissing her? Mace was about to pull back when she leaned in closer, her breasts pressing into his chest.

And when her hands slid around to his back to cling to him, he knew there would be no getting out of this mistake just then.

They’d deal with the consequences later because that’s what they did. They were strong enough to deal with anything, and right then, all he wanted to do was bury himself inside his best friend and never stop.

So, he didn’t.

The Montgomery Ink series continues with a spin-off in Colorado Springs, where a familiar Montgomery finds her place in a new tattoo shop, and in the arms of her best friend.

Adrienne Montgomery is finally living her dreams. She’s opened a tattoo shop with her brother, Shep, and two of her cousins from Denver and she’s ready to take the city by storm with her art—as long as she can handle the pressure. When her new neighbors decide her shop isn’t a great fit for the community, however, she’ll have to lean on the one person she didn’t expect to fall for along the way…her best friend.

Mace Knight takes pride in two things: his art and his daughter. He knows he’s taking a risk by starting over in a new shop with the Montgomerys, but the stakes are even higher when he finds himself wanting Adrienne more than he thought possible.

The two fall fast and hard but they know the rules; they can’t risk their friendship, no matter how hot it is between the sheets and how many people try to stand in their way.
