Ryan is learning more on how to be ready for the new film he is making. So what if his instructor is the hot guy he passed up the other night? He didn't need to meet someone while working, anyway.

Shannon is chasing after what he wants. Can he catch the deep hidden actor? Together, these two must overcome predjudice, assumptions, and more. Good thing their chemistry is off the charts hot!

I loved these two characters together. They do seem to rush into things a bit, but it works for these two and feels meant to be. I liked the pace of the story, and felt it was a good installment with the series.

The Callback is the first book in Brandy L. Rivers’ Love Behind the Scenes series and is a great read that readers can easily become caught up in from the very beginning. Leona Shay is an author whose personal life is turmoil so she is certainly not looking to fall for anyone much less a rising movie star. Luke Chase can have anybody he wants but he wants the author who isn’t ready for him or anything that comes with him. The characters are strong and easily connected to with some sizzling chemistry between them that readers easily pick up on during this sweet romance full of hot and steamy passion and rocky heartfelt turmoil that keeps the readers in suspense throughout the story wondering if this couple can possibly work things out and reach for the happily ever after, especially as trust doesn’t come easy for Leona.

 

The plot moves smoothly with a steady pace that keeps readers glued to the pages as Luke tries to win Leona’s heart, but then disaster strikes due to an overzealous and determined former hook up and things really become intense and emotional which had me tearing up a bit. The author made it easy for each and every scene to be pictured as the reader follows the couples journey to their happily ever after with well written words and well developed characters that are realistic, so it is not surprising that I became emotionally invested in their romance.

 

I am huge fan of Brandy L. Rivers paranormal Others universe, but this is the first contemporary romance that I have read by her and I have to say that I was quite pleased that I enjoyed reading The Callback as much as I enjoy reading about the Others so I can’t wait to read The Long Shot which is due to be released later this month.

Wow! This woman, Ms. Kresley Cole, can write anything. I began reading her action packed-under and above the covers- Immortals After Dark series many years ago. I read quite a few, then put her books on hold for a while. I came back last year and have nearly completed IAD. As we Geminis love to do, we read at least five books at one time (depending upon our mood). In doing this, I thought I would try Ms. Cole's earlier works after having recently completed her new-amazing-contemporary erotica series, The Game Makers. Knowing how great she handled Contemporary in addition to Paranormal Romance, I had faith that her earlier works-The MacCarrik Brothers trilogy- would be fantastic. Well, I can honestly say that I placed my faith in good hands because this series, so far, is really wonderful. For those who like non-paranormal romance, don't mind period pieces with minimal historical details, and more detailed erotic scenes with brawny, sensual, loving, alpha-males who happen to be Kilt wearers, then this is your series. This book of three, is well written, has a good story line, is erotic but tasteful, and is an easy read! I highly recommend it. There is just a special way that Ms. Cole, and only Ms. Cole, writes sex scenes that are the most unique and erotic in general romance. I have never read anyone else that writes them like she does. It's strange because the scenes are so normal and vanilla, but they make you puddle on the floor every time. And oh yeah, did I mention there's an actual plot that takes up most of the book! I know, right?! Amazing how now we can get a two-for-one deal in today's literature. This book is indeed a "kilt lifter" not a " bodice ripper." Just to clarify ;) But not a cheesy Harlequin; one of few genres I detest vehemently. Yes, there is a clear distinction. So, check this first book out via Overdrive, it's free! You can't go wrong with that, especially if you are new to her works. Enjoy what's under the kilt, I mean cover ;)

Love Between Fire and Ice: Different Sce... Love Between Fire and Ice by Abdulellah M Jadaa is a compilation of articles that the author has previously published. They're all based on relationships and the aim of the book is to help people look into the troubles that might be concerning. It discusses many different types of situations and references other books that might be useful to the reader as well.

I think that one thing that helped the book is that it looked into many different types of situations, with the idea that the reader might find something relateable within. However, in doing so, the book has made many references which I don't understand. For example, it sometimes references notable people, whose stories I do not know of and stories of which I have not even heard of. I think that, in many cases, the author does fairly well in trying to discuss men and women, looking into both perspectives. However, in some cases, I think it looks less fondly on the gender of women and there are a few complaints and stereotypes against females in general. The articles in a formal nature and I don't really empathise with many of the situations because of it; love discussed in such a serious manner just makes some of the author's points seem so insincere. Overall, I think it was a fairly interesting book, but I didn't really find much that I can personally related to. Though, I think that many people will find something to think about.
