Book Review For: The Sinners Touch by Apryl Baker
The Sinners Touch (A Manwhore Series) (Volume 2) - Apryl Baker

3.5 Stars
'The Sinners Touch' by Apryl Baker is book Two in the "Manwhore" series. This is the story of Kade and Angelique. I have read the first book "Touch Me Not" which was really great..but this is easily a standalone book.
Kade is an FBI agent who has come to town to look into a serial killer case. Which lands him back in front of Angelique who he once had a relationship with. Back in the day when he was just starting out as a Cop he went undercover and befriend Angelique brother. There he and Angelique dated and married but when he ended up arresting Angelique brother everything when bad. Kade said some awful things to her and just left.
Now in the present day we learn that Angelique happens to see the serial killer and he is now after her. Kade comes forward to protect her and he knows now is his second chance to win her back. But can Angelique trust him again?
I had a few issues with this book so I am bouncing back between 3.5 stars and 4 stars. I loved the writing and fell in love with the first book so much so I had to read this book right after it.
But this book I just had an issue with Kade who said he forgot that he was married. Granted he was undercover back then, but when he first meets Angelique in the present day, he calls her his wife and tells her that he used his real name in the wedding. That period of their lives was very traumatic and I am sure he would like to forget but I just can't get past that.
Overall this was a great read that I didn't put down...I had to know who things went.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Vegas Baby (Lady Sinners Series, #1) by Katie Kenyhercz
Vegas Baby: Lady Sinners Book 1 (Lady Sinners Series) - Katie Kenyhercz

Katie Kenyhercz scores with VEGAS BABY, the first book of the Lady Sinners Series.  Las Vegas Sinners dance team captain and PR assistant, Miranda Evans, wants to give her squad more credibility.  She comes up with an idea to have the girls play in an intermural hockey league to prove that they are more than pretty faces.   However, to get the go-ahead to proceed, she needs to convince former Sinners Center, Ben Collier, who was paralyzed after an accident on the ice, to become their new coach.  This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.

I like Miranda and Ben.  They have great chemistry.  They are opposites that balance each other out.  However, they also have a lot in common.  For example, they are both hard working and loyal.

I like Miranda’s character.  She is someone I would want to be friends with.  She is positive and genuine.  She leads by example.  She’s a fighter.  Ben is a complicated and interesting guy.  Hockey was his life, and it was taken away after a horrible injury left him paralyzed.  He is as determined with his therapy as he was with hockey.  He doesn’t want to be pitied. He’s on the anti-social side but a good friend to those he lets in.

I enjoyed the plot.  It was skillfully executed and believable.  The story line was original and captivating. It contained some valuable life lessons.   VEGAS BABY is the perfect spin-off from the Las Vegas Sinners series to the Lady Sinners series.  I look forward to the next book.  I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Only human
Sensational Sinners - Peter Styles

Wyatt thinks he has finally found the perfect man.  Who knew an app could help out with these kinds of things?  There are secrets that his new man will not reveal.  What will happen with everything gets real?

Lincoln has things he feels he needs to hide.  He has a very public alter ego.  The private him is thrilled to catch Wyatt's interest.  Can they compromise enough to find a future?

These guys click right from the start!  The sexual tension, the heat, the banter.... it is all so very good.  There is always an obstacle, however, and these two have to leap over the elephant in the room.  I really enjoyed reading about these two characters.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Title: Sinners
Series: Monster Hunter Memoirs #2
Author: John Ringo & Larry Correia
Rating: 3.5 of 5 Stars
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Pages: 270
Format: Digital Edition

Synopsis:

Gary Stu bangs an underage Elf [she was only 45] and when her vengeful trailertrash relatives chase him down, he requests a transer to the New Orleans MHI office.

Once there, the action is non-stop, the monsters relentless and the MCB are the good guys too. Magic is on the rise, for no reason anyone can tell and even two-bit sorcerers can suddenly raise powerful elder beings.

But even Gary Stu can't kill ALL the monsters. Shackleford the IV and Earl come into town with the Happy Face group to help out. But Mardi Gras is coming and things are going to go apocalyptic.

My Thoughts:

This was MUCH better than Grunge. Most of it was that Chad, otherwise known as Gary Stu, is just too busy to do anything else except narrate MHI adventures. Which means that there was only one theological reference [which was sketchy as all get out] and two cockhound stories about girls.

The rest of the book was totally focused on saving New Orleans from a huge influx of monsters. It was the type of story that I expect when I read an MHI book. Guns, carnage and death abound. Agent Franks gets involved near the end and I've always liked stories that included him, even before reading Nemesis (MHI #5). The end, where MHI, MCB [Monster Control Bureau] and even some civilians fight a horde of monster crawdads and just about everybody dies except Chad, Agent Franks and one or two others, was tough to read. It's never enjoyable reading about the destruction of the good guys.

I do hope the 3rd book comes out soon, as there are several instances of burrows appearing, people disappearing and vague references to some new power arising. The local Vampire Lord calls it a “tourist” and it is apparently what is causing the influx of power. But we don't get to that part of the story yet. It is referenced but the full implications and the real action concerning it haven't come about. Honestly, that is what I wanted to read about.

Looking at Correia's website however, it doesn't appear that the third book, entitled Saints, will be ready any time soon. He just turned in his parts of it to the editor and now the fitting together must commence. But after this book, I am looking forward to it. Unlike after the first book where I really questioned if I wanted to read this one at all.

To sum up. Good MHI book, lot less bad theology, lot less boinking of chicks and the inclusion of Agent Franks. Good stuff.

Between Sinners and Saints - Marie Sexton

This was a really beautiful book, the writing was mesmerizing and the story intriguing, the characters both MCs and secondary were well established and so rich and deep, the slow build and the romance and angst were done wonderfully.

Levi was amazing I loved him so much, he was so attentive and compassionate and so patient, his love for Jaime was beautiful and reverently someone once told me that love is not about changing who you are but about becoming a better person for that person you love and that exactly what I felt happened to Levi and it was so heart warming.

He leaned over and kissed those lines on Jaime's wrist, as if he could take away the pain of whatever had caused Jaime to make them,.....

Jaime was a wonderful character his struggles and and fears and pain was so real and he broke my heart but still he was strong and willing to fight for himself and his life and for Levi.

His fear was part of him.It wasn't something to be exorcised. It wasn't something to be obeyed. It needed only to acknowledged..........So Jaime accepted his fear.Yes, it was there. So be it.

Levi and Jaime were adorable together and their relationship was so intimate

even though they weren't touching for most of the story

(spoiler show)

it is like it wasn't need to achieve that level of Intimacy and love between them and when they get to it, it was so sweet and passionate.

Levi and Jaime made me laugh, cry and be angry for them and with them and I loved every minute of it and overall this was an awesome book and I have enjoyed reading it so much.
