Conceited (Crimson Elite #3) - T.L. Smith

Let's start off by saying this is a fairly new author for us and we really enjoyed our second read by them .The only thing we disliked is we wish that the author had written and Epilogue. I strongly dislike authors that end books just like this author did as we love seeing a glimpse into the future especially if the romance was a rocky road to get to a happily ever after.Just a personal pet peeve of mine.

We really loved the character's Ariel/Raven and Falcon (love their names) they were a lot of fun and both of them had vibrant personalities which we love.Falcon the man whore who has women falling at his feet and then you have the feisty Black haired raven who is mouthy as all get out and we loved her sassiness and her spunk as she made us laugh time and time again. Raven's character's was a hoot ! We found her to be strong, successful, smart, independent, caring funny, and one of those women who doesn't even know her own sex appeal."We loved her from the very beginning!"

Falcon-We love his name! We found Falcon to be way to cocky for his own good, sexy as sin ,was confident ,had this dangerous aura than surrounds him, is dangerous but, he could also be playful and tease but, not one who gives up the chase quite so easily.

We love the other character's as well like Darby,Echo,Creed all had different personalities some of them light and funny, others all serious like and others dark and dangerous. We loved Tracey and Chad as they livened things up and were tell it like it is kind of people the perfect friends who will have no problem giving you a kick in the a** when you need it. grinning.....

The plot was a lot of fun we loved the cat a mouse chase going on between these two Falcon and Raven ,we loved their banter and we even loved Falcon's cockiness because his antic's really made us smile throughout the whole story. We loved to that we saw that he had some vulnerability to him and the whole relationship was a new learning platform for him. That saying is true for Falcon "When the Fall they Fall Hard " because his besties new he was in love even before he did or at-least they suspected it because of his actions and deeds .Raven and Falcon had some major chemistry for sure and just one taste of one another will never be enough but, with these two stubborn and strong willed people will never make falling it love easy but, their journey will gives us tons of laughs and smiles along the way.

Some favorite quotes of ours from this story

"Stop stealing my kisses.” … “Those kisses are being begged to be stolen. So, I’ll keep stealing them each and every time.”

"He told me he wanted me to be his first, last and everything in between.”

"Falcon is like a fine wine, while you have him you have to savor him.”

Overall the story was quite enjoyable and we loved getting to know all the character's and we can't wait to read Darby's,and Creed's story. This was one fun read that was full of tons of chemistry and had really hot sexual interludes as well as making us laugh out loud time and time again.I really think we are really going to love this series. We recommend the read to all ! We are looking forward to reading more of this author's works !

From AMAZON BESTSELLING AUTHOR JAX HART, UNDONE CREED MC #3. This is a standalone full-length novel. You can read this without reading the other two books. However, the author recommends reading in order.

****These series are less about the MC life and more about the men who run them.****

This is Smith & Luce's Story... you first meet them in UNSCRIPTED #2 in the series.

Let's start off my saying this is a brand new author for us and Wow ! just Wow !This story was griping intense, heart wrenching, tons of drama, was funny, exciting ,had wonderful character's and had some major heat going on and we loved every second of it.What a page turner!

I always pick a favorite author but, It was really hard to choose but, we decided on Luce even though this story had a great cast of amazing characters.

Luce was a character that was fun,had a sense of humor, loving ,caring,is sensual ,artistic a little lonely and not comfortable in her own skin and quite emotional but, throughout the story she kept growing more confident and more comfortable in her own skin but, what she was not is a door mat for any man to walk all over anymore. We just loved her.She was just one of those character's that was so easy to love.

Lucas- Now Lucas was all Alpha, tall dark, dangerous, had the looks of a mountain man, was a Dom in the bedroom and pretty much out of it lol, protective and possessive and done right scary and pretty much a A-hole most of the time but, with good reason. Omg ! I loved his and his mom's relationship and all their uncomfortable conversations as they were down right hilarious together .Even with his A-hole-ish ways he was down right delectable and pretty much irresistible. He was definitely was fan worthy!

Not only did we love these character's we loved,Dare,Rog,Duke,Rogue and we have to say we loved the old ladies as they were just priceless and a lot of fun.I have to say that there for a bit while I was swooning over Rogue the dark tall handsome deadly and dangerous Mafia King I was rooting him to win the prize.
Holy Hotness !

I have to say the author started the story off with a bang and kept us engrossed in the pages the entire time  because once we started reading it we couldn't put the book down until we were finished it. The story was just that good and we loved it.We are so looking forward to more books in this series and getting caught up with the rest of the series.Would love to see Rogue get his own story even if it was a novella where the MC & The Mafia King team up as we would loved to see more of him.I think we were just a little bit in love with him. Grins..

Also we wanted to mention that this story had one hot cover and we love it !

Recommended read to all !

Omg ! What a great story.I am really loving this series and Esther and Raff 's/Wolfe's story was so heartfelt and totally heart wrenching I wanted to cry time and time again and my heart actually hurt for all the hurt and pain that both Raff and Esther had to endure. This is the type of book that pushes your limits and it is a story that takes you totally out of your comfort zone.

This story had so much going on that I was glued to the pages the entire time from beginning to end.The story was filled with so much sex, drama, suspense, and surprises and so much more.We loved it! I have to say that this story kept me on edge the entire time. The story is not for the faint of heart that is for sure and it is very dark and graphic and may have triggers for others.

I honestly have to say that after reading this story I was left reeling and my emotions were all over the place and I had to remind myself that this was a book of fiction because I just could not understand how Esther could be with a man like Raff/Wolfe that would cause you to spiral so out of control to the point that you feel like you have no self worth left and that you feel your only choice left to you is to become a whore to a club full of men and that the man who claims to love you would even allow that to happen in the first place! WTH!

I realized that Esther past played a big part in the way she is and the decisions she makes and Raff/Wolfe just happens to be her drug of choice and that she just can let go of but, that women was on a path of self destruction and in reality so was Wolfe.

Esther for me was a puzzle as I could not understand how she could be a teacher and outside of work be someone totally different. The women was broken and in pain and she totally lost her mind when it came to loving Wolfe and the lengths she was willing to go to keep him and what she was willing to endure to keep him to the point it would even cause her more pain.

Wolfe is a character that you want to hate but just can't because underneath all that pain and suffering and the demons he carries around him deep down he was a man capable of loving with one's whole heart if only he would put his demons to rest.Time and time again I wanted to kick his butt for the pain he caused Esther and the things he said to her and the way he treated her because all along it was obvious to all how much he did love her.Let's just say I was thinking out loud some really bad curse words to call him more that a few times throughout the story. lol

Esther and Raff are just super hot together! The sexual content was highly erotic and just kept getting hotter and hotter and this couple were definitely making up for lost time.Holy friggin Fanning ! And Mamba being involved made things even more intense and even hotter even if it was only for a brief time!

All and All in the end these two were made for each other who accepted each others faults and all the broken pieces that made them who they had become and maybe just maybe it takes two lost souls to heal one another.Perhaps love and acceptance will do the trick.

I loved the story from beginning to end .I loved how determined Raff was to get back the women he loves. The story was about healing ,love and betrayals and exacting vengeance and was full with tons of drama and suspense but, how one faithful night put things in perspective for both characters making them realize that they finally had to lay their demons to rest in order to have a future whether it together or apart. I loved this cast of characters and I have to say Mamba became one of my favorite characters. All these thing made it an engaging story as well as an amazing read for us that kept us on edge the entire time.

Haley is one of my favorite story tellers and for me and has become a author on my auto buy list as she never disappoints. One of the other things I just love about her is she takes the time to interact with her fans as much as she can which makes me just love her more as she is just and awesome storyteller.

Another amazing tale from cover to cover!

Recommend to read  to all who like very dark and edgy romances !

Book Review for Lost and Found by Lexi Blake
Lost and Found (Masters & Mercenaries: The Forgotten #2) - Lexi Blake

Owen Shaw and his “brothers” lost everything, their entire existence erased. Science had robbed he and all the Lost Boys of their memories and their past, but not their future. Hunted by every intelligence agency in the world, they are focused on two goals: find a cure for what was done to them and ensure that the technology that ruined their lives doesn’t get out into the world. Rebecca Walsh might be the key to achieving both. Owen has been studying her closely, living in her building, and he cannot resolve how such a beautiful, giving woman could have helped design the evil process that destroyed his past. Dr. Rebecca Walsh has dedicated her life to researching the secrets of the mind. Her atmospheric rise in her field was fueled by the horror of watching her mother’s agonizing journey into madness at the hands of a disease with no cure. She vowed to never rest until she finds it. But obsession takes a heavy toll, and when Owen moves into her building she realizes how much of her life she has missed out on. Owen opens her eyes to a whole new world, filled with joy, laughter, and possibly love. Owen and Rebecca grow closer, unraveling more about each other and the mysteries surrounding her connection to Hope McDonald. As the sinister forces working against the Lost Boys descend on Toronto, secrets long buried are uncovered that could shatter the bonds holding the Lost Boys together and cost Rebecca her life.

Let's start off by saying this is one of my favorite Romantic Suspense authors as she always creates suspenseful and intriguing reads with great characters and we just love them time and time again.

This story started off with a bang and engaged us in the plot from the very first pages in.Let me just say that Owen is one smooth talking sexy Scottish hunk of man and when he talks it is enough to melt a girls panties. Lol

Owen was a secret operative undercover and his job is to get close to Dr. Rebecca Walsh who is a brainiac doctor and once meeting her she is everything he never expected and fell head over heals for her in a instant.

We loved Owen as he was sexy as sin, a bit lonely, unsure of himself and man with sins on his conscience but, he was just one of those love-able character's that you gravitate to because he has that sexy bad boy vibe that you can't help but be drawn to.

Becca aka Rebecca for us was not the typical doctor of science as she secretly loved to live on the edge when she wasn't being her normal self who lives and breaths to work she was a really fun character who surprised us at every moment because she seemed to do things so out of character for her.We loved seeing her temper and it was funny as hell when someone pisses her off.Her fire was Hot!

Owen and Becca were a couple who had some really hot chemistry and not only that they were perfect for one another. We loved the hot and sexy scenes the author created for these two because not only were they hot she made them fun to.

Overall we loved the story and its plot as more and more things are coming to light about getting to the matter of what happen to the men and their pasts. The story was suspenseful and engaging and kept you glued to the pages but, most of all we loved them those eclectic group of operatives who are all so different yet all have a talent and a purpose who make the team deadly .We loved the camaraderie between them and we envy the close knit family they have become but, most of all they have each other back when things go terribly wrong.

"Loved it!"

Recommended read to all!
Loving the series!

“Becca.” Owen’s voice was low. “Concentrate on me, on our conversation. You’ve done incredibly well. You’ve been able to hold it off, but this has gone on far longer than you ever should have been expected to handle it. This elevator is tight. I feel it, too, but we can hold off the anxiety together.” She doubted very much the man in front of her was anxious. He looked solid, like the kind of man who took whatever came his way and simply dealt with it. He wouldn’t have needed two freaking years to figure out what he wanted. He would have signed his divorce papers and moved on, not hiding in his work. It struck her forcibly that she might never have met a man like Owen Shaw. Her childhood had been fairly sheltered. She’d constantly been surrounded by intellectuals, men and women who were far more concerned with their work than anything else. The ground beneath her shifted and the elevator dropped what felt like ten feet, but she knew in her head it was mere inches. Her heart rate tripled, and she grabbed on to the closest thing she could—him. His arms went around her, holding her up, and she heard it. He was so tall that her head naturally rested on his chest, and she could hear his heart beating in rapid time. He was nervous. The phone rang and Owen cursed, reaching out to grab it. The shaft was so small, he didn’t have to let her go to grasp it. “What the bloody hell is happening, Colin?” She could hear his voice over the line. “Sorry. So sorry. We had to lower the shaft the tiniest bit. I should have warned you. It’s not going to fall. Just needed to reposition to get to the problem. Not long now. Another half an hour or so and I’ll have you right out of there.” “If you do that again, do you know what I’m going to do to you, Colin?” There was a pause over the line and she could practically hear Colin’s gulp. “Write my father a tersely worded letter of complaint?” “No, I’m going to pull your heart out through your throat and then I’ll shove it back up your arse.” “You sound very much like Liam Neeson in that movie.” “Liam Neeson is Irish. I’m a Scot. I assure you what I’ll do to you will make you run into Liam Neeson’s arms and beg him to save you.” He reached back and hung up the phone with a resounding clang. His arm went back around her. “It’s going to be all right. They’ll move faster now. So you’ve taken a sabbatical from men.” She breathed him in, loving how he smelled. Were men supposed to smell so good? She could feel herself relax as he held her. She’d known him for three hours. She shouldn’t let him hold her like this. And why the fuck not? Because it wasn’t smart? Because he might think she wanted something she shouldn’t? She was human. Why shouldn’t she want him? Because society told her that good girls didn’t make out with guys they’d just met in an elevator? Society sucked, and she wasn’t a good girl. When her husband had tried to put his name on her work, she’d told him to fuck off and write his own paper. When he’d cheated on her, she’d walked away. She was single. God, was he single? She stepped back. “What’s wrong?” Owen asked. “Do you have a girlfriend?” His lips curled up in the sweetest grin, as though he knew exactly why she was asking that question. “No, love. I don’t have a girlfriend and I don’t have a wife.” He was single. She was single. The moment lengthened between them. He stepped back. “I’m sorry. I’m coming on way too strong.” He wasn’t. He’d been gentlemanly, friendly. Up until the last couple of moments, he hadn’t put a hand on her or leered. She could feel his attraction. It was there in the warm way he looked at her, in the set of his shoulders, relaxed earlier and tense now that he’d touched her. He was thinking about the same thing she was. “I’m very nervous, Owen. My logical mind knows that it’s far more likely for me to die getting hit by lightning than in an elevator, even one that’s stuck.” Unfortunately, her logical mind was slowly losing control of her dumbass lizard brain. “Will talking help?” Owen asked. “Because I’m willing to do that. Or whatever you need to take your mind off things.” There was a wealth of promise in those words. Dirty and sweet at the same time. They’d shared her wine, passing it back and forth between them, her lips touching the same place his had been moments before. When she’d drank after him, she’d thought about kissing him. It had been too long. Two years was way too long to go without sex. They had a half an hour or so. At least that’s what Colin—who might be murdered soon by Owen Shaw—said. She even thought his name was sexy. What exactly would it hurt if she did kiss him? If she touched him and let him touch her? Hell, what would it hurt if she fucked him? They were both single, both a little needy. They had some time to kill. They’d done everything else. “I would like to kiss you.” If he didn’t want her to, he could say no and they could find something else to do. She wasn’t going to be embarrassed because some guy didn’t want her. Some stunningly gorgeous guy. Some really funny, sexy guy. After all, she wouldn’t see him after this. She’d never seen him before. He’d told her he was moving in, but she went into work early and came home late. He was a bodyguard, so he likely worked odd hours and traveled a lot. He was safe. She could open that door, enjoy herself, and then close it again. Owen Shaw could be her first really good memory in a long time, the start of many because it was time to get serious about finding some joy and balance in her life. But only if he wanted some joy, too. He moved back, placing his back against the elevator wall, the sweetest smile lighting up his face. “You have no idea how much I want you to kiss me. I’m right here, love. Do your worst.” He was letting her make the first move. And probably the second. And the third. He was obviously a careful man. It would be easier if he took over, but he was right. This needed to be her choice, and she had to make the move. She’d been the girl who’d told her parents at the age of five that kindergarten was boring and she wanted to move through the grades until she found something challenging. When they’d told her they wanted her to slow down and enjoy her childhood, she’d gone on strike until the teachers at her school begged her parents to let them move her up. She was the girl who’d put it all on hold to take care of her mother, too. She wasn’t the girl who didn’t take what she wanted, and she wanted Owen Shaw. “It’s been a long time since I did this.” But her body was already heating up. Her body remembered. Her marriage might have sucked, but the sex had been fairly good. It had been the reason she’d married him. She’d gotten used to regular, good sex. She’d get used to it again, just on her terms this time. “Somehow, I think you’ll remember,” he said. “You play all you like. Stop when you want to.” She’d been right about him. He was a careful man. “And if I don’t want to stop?” “Then you should be happy I’m a man who believes in being prepared.”

Essential Reading
Recovery: Freedom from Our Addictions - Russell Brand

Recovery: Freedom from Our Addictions by Russell Brand is the 4th book of his that I've read and possibly the one that's hit the closest to home. This book outlines the 12 Step Program from Russell's perspective with personal accounts from each step of his journey towards recovery. It is an excellent book for those struggling with addiction (of any kind) or those who have witnessed that struggle in others.

The emphasis made throughout the book is that you must

  • seek a Higher Power
  • attend meetings to have a community of help
  • work the program every single day
  • seek help at times when stressed or apt to relapse from a mentor who has worked the program

These excellent quotes from the book do a far better job of recommending it than anything I could say:

But in your life you've faced obstacles, inner and outer, that have prevented you from becoming the person you were 'meant to be' or 'are capable of being' and that is what we are going to recover. That's why we call this process Recovery, we recover the 'you' that you were meant to be. - pg 42

This program helps me to change my perspective when what I would do unabated is justify my perspective staying the same - 'if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got', if you want change, you have to change. You have to make amends. - pg 133

...'you can't think your way into acting better but you can act your way into thinking better.' - pg 160

The literature upon which these movements are founded describe it not as a 'cure' but as a 'daily reprieve'; the disease, the condition, is still there, you will feel it move through you, in fear and rage and irritation, beckoning you back into previous behavior - pg 212

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Recovery. If you or anyone you love has ever struggled through addiction and the subsequent difficulties on the long road towards recovery then this is essential reading. 10/10 highly recommend
